Volunteering at New Community Shelter

I spoke with Schreiber Foods employees. Here is what a shelter volunteer shift can involve.

At a Schreiber Foods employee event in downtown Green Bay, I talked about volunteer opportunities at New Community Shelter, where I work. Schreiber Foods says its community work includes support for organizations addressing food insecurity and basic needs.

Community meals

The shelter's community meal program serves dinner every evening and lunch on weekends and holidays. Volunteer groups can cook, serve, or do both. According to the shelter, meal prep and service typically take two to three hours; serving alone takes about an hour. The meals are available to anyone in need.

How to volunteer

New Community Shelter says it has a variety of opportunities for individuals and groups. Its volunteer opportunities page has current options, an application, and contact details. If you want to help, start there and choose an opportunity that fits your time.
